Unforgettable Hits: Classic Bollywood Movies From The 90s
The 1990s were a golden decade for Hindi film lovers. Comedies, romance, and music ruled the airwaves. We grew up watching these movies on our TV sets and they have become the cushion that every Bollywood fan can rely on.
Here are a few 1990s movies you can watch at home on any weekend:
90’s Best Movies
Andaz Apna Apna (1994)
The comedy revolves around Amar and Prem who love Raveena & Karishma. In addition to Teja and crime master gogo, this hilarious mishap comedy is exactly what you need to have a great time with your friends!
Haseena Maan Jaayegi (1999)
This has to be considered as the best film of David Dhawan so far. The punchlines and situations are mind-boggling and you can’t help but get lost in the absurdity of the film.
Dil To Pagal Hai (1997)
Aur paaas.. Aur paaas.. aur paaas.. and you will die with the magic of Shah Rukh in this one! In this love triangle, Rahul is a friend of Nisha, but he falls for Pooja. In this love triangle, you will feel all the emotions of love at the same time. This is one of the most well-known love triangles of Yash Chopra.
Rangeela (1995)
Mili’s (Urmila’s) ambition is to become an actress and she gets her first break in Bollywood. But her old flame (Aamir), who is in love with her, thinks she is out of his league. Ram Gopal Varma may have lost his touch these days, but he did make some great movies in the 90s and this is one of them.
Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa (1994)
It is a love story with King Khan as the protagonist. Some have even called it his finest work. Sunil is an ordinary guy who fails in his studies and falls in love with the lead singer of his band. All his schemes to convince her to throw a party when Chris returns to the city.
Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar (1992)
Aamir Khan plays the main role in the epic high school movie for us Indians. At the heart of the movie is a cycling contest with teen love stories that will make you cry.
Hero No. 1 (1997)
Govinda Karishma Kapoor starrer David Dhawan’s comedy hits all the right chords. A rich man’s son becomes a servant to impress the family of his beloved. This is followed by pure masala fun! It’s no surprise that this is one of the most iconic comedies of all time.
Virasat (1997)
Priyadarshan’s family drama revolves around a son who returns to his home village to meet his family. Things take a turn for the better when he marries a village beauty and has to take over his father’s responsibilities. This is where Tabu & Pooja Batra are at their best.
Satya (1998)
Satya is Manoj Bajpayee’s first lead role and it is still remembered today. Satya is a dramatic drama about the Mumbai underworld that will take you on a journey through the corridors of organized crime.
Khalnayak (1993)
Khalnayak is a film that revolves around how a terrorist criminal named Ballu manages to escape and gets captured by Inspector Ram and his friend, Officer Ganga played by Jackie Shroff and Madhuri Dixit. Watch Sanjay Dutt in this film.
Darr (1993)
In the film, Shah Rukh Khan is playing the role of a psycho stalker who falls in love with Kiran’s character Juhi Chawla, and keeps trying to get his hands on her. In the film, Sunny Deol plays the role of Juhi’s friend and husband, who wants to save her but doesn’t know how to.
Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam (1999)
Though this was not his first film, it was the one in which it all began. The grandeur of the sets, the gorgeous costumes, everything came alive in this film. Nandini is a love story between Aishwarya Rai and Sameer played by Salman Khan. Nandini and Vanraj get married after Nandini’s husband Ajay Devgn takes the initiative to reunite the couple. I can watch this movie again and again because of its magic.
Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (1998)
There’s nothing quite like a classic love triangle, and that’s something you won’t want to miss on your trip back to the 90s. Karan Johar’s directorial debut also stars Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol in the lead roles along with Rani Mukherji. Songs from this film were very popular at the time and the film can be watched at any time.
Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (1995)
Raj and Simran’s epic love story has given love aspirational goals to a whole generation of people. This is the movie that will make you think of all the teenage dreams you had about love.
Hum Aapke Hain Koun (1994)
There’s a song in the movie every 15 minutes, and sometimes even earlier, but we still enjoy watching it. HAHK is a family drama that can be enjoyed by the whole family at any time. While some may think Prem and Nisha’s love story is too much to believe, we are not complaining at all!
Pardes (1997)
The song ‘I Love My India’ from the film became a rage because it was released at the time when India had completed 50 years of independence. The protagonist of this film is Shah Rukh who is an outsider but he manages to win Ganga over with his gorgeous & charming looks.
Border (1997)
Based on the Indo-Pakistan War of 1971, it is said to be the greatest Bollywood war movie of all time. The song ‘Sandese aate hain’ was the longest song of the time and everyone loved it. The multi-star cast keeps you entranced till the end, no matter how old you are.
Karan Arjun (1995)
In one life, Shah Rukh plays the role of a brother, and in the next life, he and Salman team up to take on the villain. Raakhee plays the role of their mother who utters one of the most famous lines in the history of Bollywood, “Mere karan arjun aayenge”. This is one of those classic lines that we would love to see a sequel to.
Aashiqui (1990)
Mahesh Bhatt’s film was one of the biggest musical hits of the 1990s. The team of Nadeem and Shravan worked magnificently and the film remains a favorite among all music lovers.
Raja Babu (1994)
Govinda, Karisma Kapoor starrer directed by David Dhawan. This film will take you back to the 90s because it has everything that the 90s had.
